A preemptive strike is defined as a surprise attack that is launched in order to prevent the enemy from doing it to you. So perhaps my word choice is not the best, but I would like to cordially invite all of you who have read this blog, who have supported me in the way of prayers, comments, emails, finances, facebook messages, etc to a little shindig my family is putting together. This is a chance for me to answer questions, tell stories, show pictures, wear the weird things I’ve acquired throughout the year…it’s going to be on June 19th, at 6:00 pm (EST) at Pearce Memorial Church. All are invited, there will be food…I want to formally promise you that there will NOT be a rice dish offered as I hope to never eat rice again anytime soon.
I feel that I should probably explain more of how this is a preemptive strike and then give a few more details on what this event will look like.
You are not my enemy. Let’s just get that one out in the open, no one take offense to the definition, now is not the time to take it personally. I am mostly just afraid of everyone and their mom being there at the airport…so I will give no one the exact details of my arrival. I will have been traveling for around 3 days…and considering one of the flights offers movies and unlimited food I probably won’t be sleeping – my poor family…
I simply want to offer this option to those of you who have supported me so that you know that there will be time to chat, ask questions, offer me book deals due to my superb writing (I jest), listen to stories, feast, etc in a way that you know that you don’t have to put it together or feel obligated to come. I would love to share in this way and my dad has been awesome at putting this all together, you can thank Pastor Carden for his part in it as well! It’s kind of a reception of sorts for all those who have prayed, followed and supported me this past year. It’s for you, so that you don’t feel like you have to do it for me. I want to give you all this opportunity to see what your prayers have done, how they’ve been answered, and to hear some of the stories I just couldn’t write on this blog…
Thanks again for all you’ve done…I love looking back and seeing the comments, wall posts, emails, etc. It means a lot to know that you care and I’d love to be able to honor you all in this way…
To my Canadian relatives, I will be heading your way in October, sharing a similar type thing a Peterborough Free Methodist Church, and to my Maine relatives, Emily, Mom and I are planning a road trip up to you in July…so you don’t have to travel to Rochester!!
Love you all,
Brittany
