Three weeks until my feet will be on my American soil, three weeks until I will get to hugs my family (can’t wait!!!!), three weeks until I can sip on sweet tea again, three weeks until a warm shower, three weeks until I will have to say goodbye to this season and end this pilgrimage. Three weeks? How did this happen?!?
Let me set a scene for you:
Elle, Aly, B.cox, and myself sit on a bench on the side of a mountain overlooking Antigua while Jenny and Justin chill further up the mountain after several races on foot (most of which Justin won). There’s and nice breeze as we look down on a city in celebration for Holy Week. Aly pulls out a package of honey wheat crackers and a can of grape soda, I put on Nothing but the Blood on my ipod and plug up my speakers and we take communion together. All the while starring at a stone cross that is planted on the side of this mountain.
I am going to miss this.
Yesterday we did worship in the city center park; Heather and Nathan played guitar, Kirsten and Courtney painted and drew, Jenny, B.cox, and Justin played volleyball, I played the tambourine, and people hung out. It was chill, it was sweet. Kirsten’s art drew quite the crowd because apparently Antigua is the place to celebrate Holy Week or Easter in Central America. It was a sweet way to connect with the community and be intentional with our time, and a few kids got some beautiful free paintings out of it 🙂
But I am dang excited about what the Lord has planned next 🙂
