All my life there’s been this pull, some would call it a whisper, this thing in my heart that knows there is more to life than the day to day, it’s a hunger for more, not a glutenous hunger but the kind of hunger a baby has for it’s mother, a hunger that wants but also needs

It’s no longer a whisper, it’s no longer a pull.  The whisper that maybe there’s something more has escilated to this undenable shout that demands a change in reality.  The pull has built to a force of it’s own, that of a rapid twister and a passionate hurricane.  I felt this coming home from the World Race, this outrageous shout for MORE OF GOD,MORE OF HIS LOVE, TO KNOW HIM MORE.  And I didn’t know what to do.  But I want to tell you what I am doing…

I found this program for addicts in Flowery Branch Georgia.  It’s called Living Recovery Inc., they combine the 12-step program of AA and a christian atmosphere to deal with addiction on a physical level as well as a spiritual one.  It’s a program for women and I will be living in the house with the residents of the program.  Living Recovery is not affiliated with Adventures in Missions or The World Race, but I will be living only 15 minutes away from my beautiful AIM family and look forward to staying involved with that community.  While participating in the internship I will be working towards becoming
a CAC or a Certified Addiction Counselor.

I don’t know yet where this
will take me long term.  All I know right now is that over my time on the Race the Lord has put
this people group on my heart, the addicted, the imprisoned, those deemed by the world “unlovable” or “hopeless”.  These
people are all over the world, they have names and each has a story; for
now I will working with a few of them, women in the US and I am so
excited to learn their names and hear their stories, but really I’m no different than “them”.  I believe there can be a change, the addicted becomes a freed man, the shepherd becomes king, the prostitute becomes the Beloved, the “everyday” activities become miracles, the whisper that dictated the dreams of our unconscious becomes a shout the brings action to change our reality.  Kingdom comes.

I leave August 31st and I am so excited!

“The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me,
   because the LORD has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
   he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
   and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor,
    and the day of vengeance of our God;
   to comfort all who mourn;”
Isaiah 61:1-2
