That title is such a paradox. It was HOT last month! Personally, I enjoyed the sun and having the option to be outside more often. I’m in Malaysia now but still owe you a recap of my time in Cambodia!
My team worked at the Shelter of Love. This place is doing some really great things. There are roughly 50ish kiddos residing at the center and the house parents and staff love on these kids in such a beautiful, sincere way. I loved that!
We painted a giant wall and shoveled dirt in the mornings, spent time as a team and on our own in the afternoon while the kids were in school and then taught classes in the evenings. I loved my students too! Our 5 o’clock class absolutely adored us “teach-uhs”! They were eager to learn and so sweet! My 7 o’clock class had some great discussion and it’s where I learned more about Cambodian schools and even learned a little Khmer.
Of all the kids there, one little girl stole my heart. Her name is Tika. She is quite reserved but also full of life if you get her to break out of her little shy bubble. Her smile is radiant and her love for others is contagious. When I remember Cambodia, I’m going to remember her!
What else happened?
Cambodia is not for the faint of heart.
If you wanna get the most of your experience, you have to play it smart.
If you aren’t careful, parasites invest.
You will then be mindful of everything you ingest.
The kids are plentiful and the love is real.
You will never go hungry after Vicki or Pheara cook you up a meal!
I will miss the many treats, even the ice cream came by bike.
There wasn’t a whole lot in this country I did not like.
If I would give this month one word it would be sacrifice.
Not because of what I did or anyone else at the center, but because we have a God who sent Jesus to make a way for these kids and pay the ultimate price.

UPDATE & PRAYER REQUESTS:
We are in Kuala, Lumpur Malaysia! It’s a beautiful city and so far I absolutely love it. Please pray for ministry opportunity this month. We are excited to be spending the month asking the Lord where he wants us and what he wants us doing. However, there is room for complacency to creep in; pray against that!
Much Love,
Brittany
