Just because something's fixed doesn't mean it can't be broken- Phil, Blow Dry

Ok, first thing to know about me- I love movies. I love them even more when I can relate them to my relationship with Christ.

This movie for instance is called Blow Dry- not a Christian movie at all. It's about a broken family of hair stylists- the 20-something year old son of divorced parents, mom fell in love with another woman, dad still loves mom…that kind of story. Anyway, all four people- mom's lover included, team together to win a competition to see who the best in the world of hair is. Phil is the dad- played by Alan Rickman(Snape in Harry Potter). This one line made the movie for me. To see this twisted family come together was amazing- But Phil's words ring so true. I have a loving Father who did fix me. I am thankful for that truth. But even more so, He keeps breaking me. Sometimes just a little bit at a time and sometimes it seems like He just throws me against a brick wall- shattering me to teeny tiny pieces. He has an will continue to fix me- if I allow Him to, but I am still very fragile- I can still be broken.

Now that we've established that I'm a fragile child of God- who am I on earth?
I think since I'm 21, I'll give you 21 very random facts.

  1. I am the youngest in my family.
  2. I was originally going to be named Whitney. And if I were a boy, I'd be named Corey Teal.
  3. I was born and raised in Fort Collins. Same house that my mother moved into when she was 16.
  4. I hate scary movies.
  5. What constitutes as a scary movie- well- you remember the Disney movie Hocus Pocus? Still scares me half to death.
  6. I love coffee- Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks is my favorite drink- too bad it's seasonal.
  7. Speaking of coffee, if you're buying, here's my drink orders at: Starbucks- Pumpkin Spice Latte, Daz Bog- British Islander or frozen Coco Mocha(used to be called something else but then the person who had the rights to a certain cand bar with coconuts and almonds threatened to sue), Wild Boar- Caramel Cappuccino, Cuppy's- Pumpkin Pie or that same frozen drink I get at Daz Bog, Starry Night- I don't remember the name of it- but I'm pretty sure it uses almond milk, and as for the rest of the coffee shops in town- you can help me decide.
  8. I once tried to drown my sister, Jorel, in a lake when I was 2-she was 9- by sitting on her head.
  9. I also once put gum in her hair and then was grounded from the wonderful chewy stuff for a year- so thankful I found a loophole.
  10. I have FOUR nieces and one nephew. Jenna, Keara, and David live in Florida and Cori and Addison live here in Colorado.
  11. My uncle put me on a horse, bareback, when he found out I could sit up on my own. I was three months old. He moved me to a saddle when I was 6 months old. So I really have been riding pretty much my whole life. And somehow, I've never fallen off- still waiting for that to happen.
  12. I love to go fishing but I can't eat the stuff- it makes me sick. So if you're going to eat my catch, I'd love to fish with you sometime.
  13. I REALLY DO miss playing cello. Even though I rarely practiced when I was in orchestra~ my apologies to Ms. Wells. And Mr. McNeal.
  14. I love old country music like that of Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Porter Wagoner, etc.
  15. I've never wanted to be anything other than a doctor. Even though it's taking forever it's still my goal.
  16. I have a ridiculously good memory. I can remember complete conversations and random events that happened many years ago. My earliest memory being when I was about 2 or 3.
  17. Because of this great memory, it really bothers me when people claim they said something when I know they didn't- it bothers me more when they say I said something.
  18. I will correct your grammar; I mean no offense by it. If it helps, I correct myself as well. I try not to, and if you just talk to me I'll let you know the reason behind my doing so.
  19. I cared for a woman with numerous special needs- one of which being blindness- I would let her dress herself without any help, not to be mean but because it gave her great joy when people nicely commented her on how colorful her outfit was.
  20. While I do love FRIENDS and ER, the only show that I will totally stop whatever I'm doing to watch is M*A*S*H* which is probably why I love the day that Pastor Brad compared the Body to a MASH unit in his message one day.
  21. When I was 2 I climbed a tree in a dress at my uncle's wedding. When I was told to get down, I wrapped my arms and legs around the trunk and slid down. While my mom was pulling splinters out of me, my sister was crying for me and I was laughing and asking to go again. I still like climbing trees by the way.
