When applying for the World Race I had decided and focused on January 2013 as my launch date and trip. I moved home this summer to spend time with my friends and family and work before leaving on the Race. As the summer continued and I was swamped with school, work, and other responsibilities, I realized I was far too busy to actually spend time with my family and friends and focus almost any attention on the World Race. So, a few weeks ago God really moved my heart to change routes. He confirmed this through others as well, and I switched to a July 2013 route.
I have a tendency (understatement) to run through seasons of my life so fast, I forget to enjoy them and the people I get to spend that time with. God has been convicting me of this recently and encouraging me instead to rest in this season and spend quality time with people and Him.
I always want to be working towards the next big thing I’m doing, and usually that’s fine, but for right now, instead of working so hard I miss life, I’m going to choose to rest. This season is about resting and spending time with people and God. I have the opportunity in this season to spend purposeful time getting to know God better, and in turn getting to know myself and who I am in and through Him better. I’m so excited!
But all that to say, I am not leaving on the World Race until July 2013. The next post will have my new route countries in it.
