So the Lord put something on my heart a few nights ago that I wanted to share.
In Matthew 17:20, Jesus is speaking to His disciples and says “…I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." I don’t believe Jesus was referring to a physical mountain (though who am I to put Him in a box, I would love to see a real mountain move), but instead He was speaking of the mountains in our life.
For me, and I know for most of my squad as well, fundraising is a big mountain in life right now. It’s kind of a Mt. Everest looking mountain right now to be honest.
The part of this making a mountain move thing that the Lord has really been pressing on my heart though is actually the very next verse in Matt 17:21 when Jesus continues and says, "But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting." I know I have read these verses countless times and forgotten the second verse more often than not; probably because prayer and fasting require time and comfort, which come a bit slower on the sacrifice list.
But God is challenging me to take Him at His word and take more seriously prayer and fasting as part of my fundraising/WR prep. The really hard part of this is fasting. Anyone that knows me, knows that I love food; not eating for a set amount of time is kinda hard! But if He says that this mountain will move when I pray and fast (which let’s be honest moves us instead of our situation), then ok, I will take Him literally and do just that.
So this is an invitation.
For me.
For you. My squadmates. My supporters. My friends.
What the Lord has placed on my heart specifically about this is that on the 11th of each month I will pray and fast for breakthrough in fundraising and other mountains, especially those relating to the world race, and I will tell them to move. (Side note- this is not the only time I will be doing either of these for breakthrough, but instead this is a purposeful day that many of us can join together for it).
So will you join me on the 11th of each month and fast and pray for breakthrough for mountains in each of our lives?
