I feel like we all have a little bit of David inside of us. I have this unspeakable joy inside of me that I have trouble verbalizing, so I dance, I raise my hands to Him, I hoot and holler His Majestic, Holy name.
Growing up in a “religious” church, I would of been looked at strangely for expressing my love for the Lord in that way. It wasn’t even common to raise your hands to show honor to Him. It was more like a keep your hands in on your hymnal book and follow the worship leader, no music, no outrageous praise, no hallelujahs! Now, don’t get me wrong, I am grateful for being raised in a Jesus believing church, but I never knew I could praise him more than just Sunday morning, and occasionally Wednesday night bible studies, not to mention youth group. It was great, made a lot of friends, stayed out of trouble for the most part. The only thing that was missing was a joy. I didn’t know that I could have joy inside of me. When I finally met Jesus and got the Holy Spirit inside of me, it just hit me. I was breathless, completely taken away by His love. He brings me so much fulfillment that I can’t help but show Him gratitude. I like to thank Him by getting a little crazy. That’s right, I am not ashamed to let loose some moves for Jesus! Hey, it’s even biblical! One man that knew how to worship the Lord was David. I love David, He’s actually one of my favorite people in the Bible. I recommend reading through the Psalms, it is SO uplifting! Here are a few verses that encourage me to stay faithful in praising Him.
2 Samuel 6:14- And David danced before the LORD with all his might, wearing a priestly garment.
Psalm 30:11- You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy.
Psalm 149:3- let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre!
Jeremiah 31:13- Then shall the young women rejoice in the dance, and the young men and the old shall be merry. I will turn their mourning into joy; I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.
