Bloom Cafe in Phnom Penh, Cambodia is amazing! The fact that I recommend them is a good indication that you need to travel to Cambodia and get some cupcakes from Bloom. If you do decide to take my advice and go to Cambodia to get cupcakes get to Bloom before 5pm. I almost did not get to taste these delicious cupcakes because I got there after 5. It was our last full day in Cambodia so we had been running around the city trying to do all the things we didn’t have time to do earlier in the month. When we arrived at Bloom Cafe it was 5:15 and they were closed, the door was still open and there was still people inside but you could tell it was closed. I made my way across the street to another coffee shop but I will not lie I was not very happy. As I sat sulking in the coffee shop I thought maybe if I just go over there and ask they will let me buy some cupcakes. Kara and I walked back over to Bloom Cafe and the door was open still so we started to make our way inside. That’s when a woman told us they were closed but they would love to have us come back tomorrow and the the door was only open because they were having a party. But then she said the magic words “I guess you can come in if you want a take away order”. That made my frown turn upside down :). I was so excited. I don’t think you understand my love of cupcake, cake is one of my favorite foods. I know all of that sounds silly but baked goods make me so happy.
I didn’t know that much about Bloom except that they had cupcakes, it was recommended to me by a friend. The fact that they had cupcakes was enough to draw me in. After my visit I went and looked up Bloom to see what they were all about and that made me love it even more. The woman who started Bloom wanted to teach women who had left the prostitution industry a skill. She wanted to make sure they could always fall back on something other than prostitution. This made me so happy because I would like to have a similar business one day. This was just an encouragement for me to see a successful business helping and empowering women.
