More Glimpses from beautiful Tanzania…

Day 131: Luang’a, Tanzania

Everywhere we went in the village, we had an entourage.  These kids followed us from house to house for hours each day.  For some of them we were the first “mzungus” they had ever seen, meaning they cried the first time we tried to get close, but by the end of the weekend, they were hanging all over us.

Day 132: Luang’a, Tanzania

This is Ali.  He was my little buddy all weekend.  When we walked to a house, he walked holding my hand.  When we prayed for someone, he put his hand on them and prayed too.  He also loved wearing my sunglasses and would take them off my head every chance he got.  At the end of the weekend, his mom told me that I was his “mzungu mother” as she thanked me profusely for loving him.

Day 133: Luang’a, Tanzania

What do you do when your bus breaks down in the middle of nowhere on a Tanzanian road?  You saw down some tree limbs and stick it in the engine to replace the broken axle of course!  When that doesn’t work, you send everyone who was in the bus to ride standing up in the back of a construction truck.

Day 134: Luang’a, Tanzania

We walked a couple of miles to visit this sweet elderly lady who has been suffering from a broken leg for more than two years.  Everytime she has tried to walk without her crudely made crutches, she has fallen and re-broken her leg.  Today, however, she walked the length of her living room and back and was able to look out the front door of her home to see the world she has been missing for the last couple of years.  Our God is a mighty healer!

Day 135: Iringa Town, Tanzania

One of my dreams came true today.  I got to go on a real life African safari in Ruaha National Park!  We saw several lions, giraffes, zebras, impalas, baboons, crocodiles, and hippos.  Our vehicle got within 5 feet of a pride of 10 lions.

Day 136: Iringa Town, Tanzania

Rose is a sweet lady who loves the Lord with all of her heart.  When we came to encourage her in the Word and ask if she needed prayer for anything she told us that everything she saw was blurry and she couldn’t hear very well.  After praying for her, both her eyesight and hearing were completely restored!

I, along with 3 of my teammates, had an opportunity to share the gospel with 5 women.  As we were speaking to them, God gave us each words to speak to them about their physical conditions and their lives that we could only have known had He told us.  One of the women was a prostitute who wanted my A21 anti-trafficking bracelet without knowing what it was.  For more about what happened today, please read my blog “A Prostitute is Wearing my Anti-trafficking bracelet.”
