Day 174: Kigali, Rwanda
After church today, we interviewed a couple of people who survived the genocide. Divine told us the story of how meeting Jesus has been the only way she has learned to live and love again after losing all of her family during that time. Meeting her for the first time, you would never know that she was anything but this sweet, gentle, loving woman, but she attributes it all to Jesus.
Day 175: Kigali, Rwanda
We went to a church where 5,000 people were massacred during the genocide. The church is now a memorial with some of the skulls, bones, and clothing still inside. Walking into the church with blood staining the walls and grenade holes through the stained glass windows made the genocide feel more real.
Day 176: Kigali, Rwanda
Tonight was our last night at New Covenant Healing Power Church (yes, it’s a mouthful). The people here wanted to thank us for being a part of their church community for the past month by giving us a gift. The way they give gifts is for everyone who is both giving and receiving the gift to place their hands on it at the same time. I have loved being a part of a consistent church community. I didn’t realize how much I have missed it the past few months.
Day 177: Kigali, Rwanda
Saying goodbye to Pastor Bhati and his family was really hard. They loved and accepted us into their home so well. He even got tears in his eyes as he told us that he was going to miss his daughters. I am going to miss them!
