Cambodia
Month 10.
The beginning of our last month as a
team we spent in a very small village (Arng village). Sleeping on the
church floor. By far the hardest conditions we’ve lived in all year
long. But guess what God is here.
We are working with an organization
called New Life here in Cambodia they send out teams to 11 of the 26
provinces that are in the country they go in and help the community
by building up leaders within and starting churches. Its amazing what
is being done here in a country that has seen so much pain and
devastation. With the mass murders that happened for nearly 4 years
in the late 70’s leaving the average age of a person at 22. This
means that 80% of the people in this country under the age of 30.
The church are a part of this week and
a half was built by a project of Joyce Meyer; which Mom I know you’ll
appreciate that. Anyway back to the story this church’s pastor is
awesome. He is a man of God if I ever saw one. His story is one of
redemption he was involved in some bad things a young boy but learned
of God and changed his ways completely. I can’t imagine growing up
under the circumstances that he did. The Khmer Rouge went on from
the ages of 8 through he was 11 in this the Khmer Rouge had killed
anyone who was educated or well off basically attempting to wipe out
anyone who could say what was going on was wrong. All the while
trying to create a society that was all equal by letting the farmers
and villagers live. Pastor Pauly was and is a villager so luckily he
was saved.
Pastor Pauly and his church are focused
on visiting church members during the week and having cell group
(small groups) meetings. Everyday we have gone out to the people to
pray over them, talk with a translator with them, share our
testimonies, and share anything God has put on our hearts. God is
truly at work in this place. It is a little bit of His Kingdom at
work here in the Kingdom of Cambodia. It’s a beautiful thing. The
community that is built in the way things are run around here. Once
we get to a house everyone around comes and sits around and wants to
hear the word of God whenever it’s available.
We are also able to teach English every
night as well. It’s a hard task but give this village a couple years
and they will be fluent English speakers. I know that more people
will be able to be reached through the availability of English, let’s
just say it’s always a draw.
At the end of every day we are
completely wiped out. I think part of that is due to the fact that
this is the hottest place we have been as well as one of the more
spiritually dark places as well. It’s takes a lot out of a person. In
this I ask for your prayers to go to Cambodia for wisdom, health, and
endurance. These people are amazing and they have big hearts I hope
and pray for strength for the Cambodians as well as what I listed
above. I just thank God that He is here and that His love never
fails.
