I came into this blog thinking I was going to write about the vision God gave me about a person standing on the top of a building. It was as if I was watching him through a tv screen where the scene is cropped, I only saw the top of the building and him. He was throwing stuff off the building and with each item he threw off, he stood a little taller, felt a little lighter. I couldn’t tell where the stuff was landing but I knew in my heart they were landing on something soft at the bottom.
God totally gets me. He knows that my brain works visually. He also knew that with this illustration I would understand that He was telling me that it’s okay to let go of the distractions, good distractions, bad distractions, let them go. Because they are going to land somewhere comforting, and I will be able to stand taller, feel lighter, and closer to Him.
But I’m not writing about that.
I was also going to write about the chai at the coffee shop. How incredibly amazing it was, (If only a picture could capture taste eh?) and what God taught me about discipline. You see, the portion sizes in Panama have not been “Americanized” if you know what I mean. “Venti” doesn’t exist, and I can’t begin to tell you how much I wish it did. The chai here is soooo good! But would I think it was just as good if I had 20 glasses of it? Or if it was available to me everyday, anytime I wanted? Unfortunately, I think it would lose it’s appeal at some point. Here’s the cool part, God knows just the right amount we need in order to overflow our souls with joy! I want more, I think I need a bigger portion, but God says “This much right here, today, this is how much is going to make your heart so happy.” Sometimes discipline gets a bad rep, but if you think about it, only good, strength, and growth comes out of it. His way, His time, His amount, Always!
But I’m not writing about that either. 😉
There’s been so much going on this week. So many relationships being made and connections happening here and there. It’s clear to see that God has made a path for us well in advance. We’ve met with people that have lead us to other people who have lead us to another person and then back to someone else. The community here is all FOR each other, they understand we are all in this together and we can’t do it without any of them.
For example, this morning we met with Dan & Jessica at Casa Paraiso. They have huge hearts for serving God and His children, they own a home in which they welcome missionaries, and people from all around to come and stay. They provide shelter and a place for fellowship. They also own a non-profit called Rio. Check it out. The cool thing about their story, is that God lead them to this house that was in need of some TLC, big time. But the shell was perfect. They have a friend who is an architect who was more than willing to help them re-design the interior. In the end, it took all kinds of people to pull this thing off. People with different gifts, talents and strengths. Walking in there this morning, I think all 3 of our jaws dropped. It was beautiful, intimate, genuine, and you could feel that a lot of love and passion went into it. They even used the wood they tore away from it as molding, counters, and even fan blades. This place had a story. “If only these walls could talk,” I believe is how the saying goes. 😉
My point is, shouldn’t this life reflect the building of this home for many? Everybody has a gift, a talent, a strength. And SOMEBODY somewhere, is praying for YOU to walk into their life. They need your gift because their gift is different. Maybe you need their gift? What gift are you praying for to walk into your life? It’s really something to think about, because once we grasp this idea that we NEED our community, Everything begins to come together, literally. And THAT’S when we can build this awesome beautiful incredible home for all of us to live in.
