I had so many expectations going into the World Race. Month one in Honduras has lived up to all my expectations. From the bucket showers to all the wonderful experiences we have had, my heart is so full of thankfulness to the Lord for giving me this opportunity. As we wrap up our time in Honduras, I am so overwhelmed with the life God gave me in the best way possible. I truly cannot express the joy I am feeling just from being a part of the Race.
This month we have actual beds, which is not always a guarantee while on the Race. The food is great. We eat a lot of beans and corn tortillas. We have also sampled the local cuisine at many of the stands near our ministry site. The toilets require a bucket of water to flush, but they do flush. We shower with a bucket full of rainwater that we catch in barrels from off the roof, but we’re clean (-ish ). Best of all, we get to minister to thirteen amazing children every day. We are truly blessed.
We have explored the Honduras in the most off the beaten path way. I doubt La Ermita is in your guidebook. During our time in Honduras, we have also explored Tegucigalpa and the Valley of Angels a little bit. We have learned so much about the country and the culture of Honduras, and we have also learned about ourselves and each other. I am so blessed the Lord placed me on my wonderful team, 4:31 Influence and on fourth generation P-Squad.
During our last full week in Honduras, we went to a bonfire hosted by a local church. We worshiped with about fifty Hondurans, roasted marshmallows, and ate baleadas around the fire. I looked up at the stars, and I was so overwhelmed with joy that the Lord chose me to live my life. This is month one and I already have many great stories of crazy once in a lifetime experiences. This is my life for eleven whole months, and I cannot wait to see what else is in store.
This month has flown by! I am sad to be leaving the kids a Heart of Christ, but I am so pumped to see what the Lord has planned for month two. After Honduras, we will move on to Antigua, Guatemala for a few days for debrief with our whole squad. Then, we will move on to Hearts in Action in San Andreas, Peten, Guatemala.
I cannot thank you all enough for supporting me financially and through prayer. I am $100 away from my next deadline in November and about $4000 away from being fully funded. You all have blessed me so abundantly through your financial partnership so far. Please consider giving again by using the donate link on this blog. Every little bit helps keep me on the Race. I love you all. Thanks for reading!
