This past week my Uncle and his family visited us from Costa Rica. They are one of the strongest most influential families I know. My cousins are both strong, well minded, generous young adults having been raised by two selfless and kind hearted parents. I am excited to do for 11 months what they do every day of their lives. (If you’d like to know more about what they do in Costa Rica, follow this link! http://thebrookministries.org/) When I asked my aunt and uncle how long they planned on staying in Costa Rica, they told me they didn’t have plans on leaving unless God calls them elsewhere.
I have been asked by almost everyone I’ve told about my trip “Why are you doing it?”. The simple answer is this- I am being called to serve. I want to be obedient even though it’s not going to be easy, comfortable, or pretty at all times. I want to show myself, and all of you, that by allowing Jesus to take over every part of your life, you will be made new. He wants me on this trip, wants ME to be a part of this adventure, I am sure of it. I am confident I am going where I am needed and that I’ll be able to make a difference. I am at a place in my life where I am able to walk away and leave everything behind for a year to focus on other people and their needs. I can share what the Lord has done in my life and be a light for others who are struggling. Many people, even if handed this opportunity, wouldn’t be able to walk away from what they have at home, work, or school. I am willing and I am able, but more than that I am yearning for this adventure.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah 6:8
