Every day in Nicaragua, between the hours of 9am and 7pm, I was soaked in sweat, coated in dirt, and smelled like I hadn’t showered in days. At Vision Nicaragua we slept in bunk beds, rode in the bed of trucks, and walked on dirt roads. We spent our time praying, evangelizing, speaking to children about drug and alcohol abuse, and preparing the people of Nicaragua to follow Jesus.
We passed out bibles (that YOU raised money for) to different communities. The Bible is powerful and life changing, so when we had the opportunity to study the Word of God with groups of women throughout the villages, we were really excited. A neighbor would graciously open up their home and the ladies would come, toting infants and chairs, the toddlers and elementary aged children following close behind. These people have heard the name of Jesus but have never had the opportunity to read the Word of God.
Our squad built wonderful relationships with the pastors, volunteers, and staff at Vision Nicaragua. It was such a blessing to walk alongside people who are living life with the Nicaraguans and seeing life from their eyes really helped us understand and recognize the real issues and possibilities in these areas. Their passion for sharing the love of Christ rubbed off on us more and more every day. When interacting with the locals, we took turns sharing testimonies and messages and leading songs and games. Together, working alongside the pastors and churches, we shared the gospel and 120 people accepted Jesus Christ as their savior.
A lot of the families we met during door to door ministry said they were already Christians, but hadn’t accepted Jesus into their hearts. Frustration, excitement, sadness, and anger all followed when those words were spoken to us. Frustration because HOW could they not KNOW that accepting Christ into their hearts is what it’s all about. Excitement for the opportunity to shed light on the real deal and good news. Sadness that they had been missing Jesus and His love their entire lives. Anger at the enemy for stealing faith, hope, and love from God’s precious people.
Thanks to you and your support from home, more lost sheep are coming home. Children are being comforted by the Lord even while watching mom/dad/brother dealing with addiction. Parents are rejoicing because they now have a guide on Jesus and how to walk His path. Addicts are realizing they are not alone in their struggles and step by step will be walking with Him. Disciples are being MADE. Heaven is partying. Thank you for sending me.
