Hola from Santa Cruz del Quiche, Guatemala!

I keep pinching myself over and over because I cannot believe this is real life.
My entire team of 61 is here tenting together for our first month. It’s the rainy season, so I wake up to lush greenery and a background of mountains every morning.

(Our little camp ground!)

My team has been paired with another team (Sweet Aroma) and is working 1.5 hours away in a town called Chichi.

(Downtown Chichi)

There we are assisting Sally, Irv and Sarah, a missionary family who moved to Guatemala three years ago from Michigan! Sally was raised in Puerto Rico and therefore is an incredible translator for us and she is fluent in both English and Spanish.

(This is Irv, I still need a picture of Sally and Sarah)

Sally runs a health clinic on the mountain side near her house in Chichi and is able to give medicine for common problems as well as give ultrasounds. We will be cleaning, painting and renovating the health clinic to make it more usable and functional for Sally and on the days the clinic is open, we will get to play with the children while they wait. Additionally, there is a school just a short hike away from the clinic that we are going to get to teach English at. We will be able to teach both teachers and students at the school for an hour a day. I am so excited to be able to make a physical difference in the clinic as well as make a relational difference by working with the children.

This is shaping up to be an incredible month! Cannot wait to see the way God works! Until next time 🙂

Love,
Brittany
