Ministry in Thailand!!!
My team has been one of the 3 who are doing "love acts", or bar ministry!!
What does this look like?
Emmi's ministry here in Chiang Mai is centered on sending missionary teams out into the darkest brothels along the red light district with the purpose of loving these women and letting the Holy Spirit work through us to draw them to Jesus. The vision The Lord has given her for this ministry is that if we can go out into these dark places and shine the light of Jesus by building personal relationships with individuals, they will get to experience the love of Christ first hand. Even the simple act of befriending these women and meeting them where they are at will point them in the direction of the Lord! We are praying that whether we are being used to plant seeds, water them, or harvest, it is all for his glory and what an enormous blessing to be used in any stage of his great plan bring the people of Chiang Mai to the kingdom!!
How does this work?
Each morning we get to go out on prayer walks throughout the red light district to cover the area in prayer! It's awesome to get to pray over specific bars and the ladies we've befriended who work in them.
Then, in the afternoon we go visit the girls who are working and setting up in the bars. This is the best time to have conversations with them and get to know them since they are not as busy at this time with work!
And finally, at night, 2 teams head out again to the bars to build friendships with the girls while the other team stays back to pray and intercede for those going out.
We have had some incredible experiences and awesome testimonies so far!! God has shown up in so many different ways, opening doors, and providing opportunities to show these lovely women that they are loved, accepted, and cherished. It's been awesome to get to live out Christ's love and to practically show them what is pure, unfailing, and unconditional love looks like!
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35
