Day 5 here in Chiang Mai, Thailand!!! What have we been up to so far?
The first week has been basically an orientation held by our squad leaders, mentors, coordinators, and ministry contact! We have had some great sessions focusing on preparing our hearts for ministry, learning Thai language and culture, helping us to grow as teams, and really just set the foundation for the coming year.
Our ministry contact's name is Emmi and she is the sweetest, funniest little Thai gal you'll ever meet! Hearing her share her heart for the Thai people and the vision the Lord has given her for this city and nation is truly inspiring!
The ministry we will be doing this month could be 3 different things!!
1.) Bar ministry. Going to local bars where girls are trapped in the sex industry and working on building relationships with them and letting the Holy Spirit work through us to show them the love of Jesus, something they've never experienced before!
2.) Working in a near by village. Just getting to jump in and serve these people in whatever their physical needs may be (working the rice fields, playing with the kiddos, ect.) and live out Christ's love in that way!
3.) College ministry. Getting the chance to hang out with the local college students and really having the opportunity to get to know them, hear their stories, share some of our own, and develop relationships that we will grow throughout the time we are here and after we leave! Our team has already gotten a head start with this!!
Two days ago, miss Emmi planned a scavenger hunt for our squad! One of the stops was this college, and we had the chance to talk with some students who were practicing a dance routine! They were so precious and laughed with us, and even taught us some of their dance! They also invited us to come to their show next Friday, which we cannot wait for!!!!! God is so good that he brought these sweet girls to us and I'm so excited to see them again and get to know them more!
Our agenda for the next couple of days?
Sundays are our free days, so tomorrow we will get to ride elephants, go bamboo rafting and hike up to a temple! Talk about a blast!
And then Monday we will officially be jumping into our FIRST DAY OF MINISTRY!!!! CAN'T WAIT to see what we'll get to do and how the Lord will work mightily through us to bring his kingdom to this nation!!
