Worms, oh Worms.
Construction for me this week was interrupted by a Malaria
scare, thankfully that test result came back negative (Don’t even ask about the
hospital visit-Probably worst decision I’ve made to date), however, I did
somehow contract worms.
Yep. It’s gross, I am WELL aware. It didn’t feel too great
either. Spontaneous fever outbreaks and fetus cradling stomach pains and lots
of nausea and the big D.
HOW? You’re probably wondering. . . well it’s not from the
food because we’ve got amazing food-warm bread in the morning from the bakery
30 min away, fresh salad, because all of the vegetables are grown on the land
and then a hot dinner at night. . . Back to the Worms-apparently they’re common
in Chibuto the village we were in and are born in the dirt. . .Since we’ve been
out in the dirt most of our day, it’s assumed that I ingested the dirt.
At first I was confused, clearly I am not eating dirt. . .
but then I realized just how often, or not so often, I’d been washing my
hands-There is no electricity or running water in this place. . . and well it’s
not so unbelievable.
All of this to say-I took a deworming pill and had a pretty
terrible night as it cleaned everything, E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G out of my body,
but woke up feeling much better, with a little rest I was back to 100%.

heading to Swazi in a week!
