Thailand: Month One
I ate frogs, snake, buffalo skin, Pork Fat, Pork Liver, Duck, Duck Liver, and various other foods. I fell IN love with a little girl named Moo, and think of her daily. The people that hosted us, quickly became family and I feel like I’ve left a little piece of my heart in Thailand. We taught English, played games, sang songs, and sweat a lot. I have a new favorite drink, Green Tea (that everyone else thinks tastes like lotion) and my comfort food became watermelon *that’s what Moo’s name translates into* I laughed so hard I cried more times than I can count and began to find a freedom this month.
God moved in me in ways that I didn’t even realize He could. I am learning to truly pray without ceasing and to rejoice often, not quite to the ‘always’ point, but getting there. The concept of living in community has never been more real–and–well, raw. We do everything together, and I am thankful for that. It leaves less room for darkness to show up. There is this sense of fearlessness that is starting to show up in me and I love it.
The simplicity of village life almost seems fictional when compared to the life I am use to living. I am more grateful than words can express that God’s called me OUT of my normal, to bring me back to him.
Moo, Ma, Pa, Casey, Piyarte, Psalm, Dillion, Karis, Noom, Ice, Pom, Bless, Peter and Top I miss you already and will keep YWAM, Thailand, We Love Isaan, and Heart of Isaan in my prayers!!
