As one of my teammates Jen put it, so often we try to fill up by going to the river with a bucket to be filled up, and then we pour out and find ourselves back at the river to fill up…..We’re called to live in the overflow of the Lord’s love, to stay in the river and invite others in with us. We’re given so much throughout our lives, and everyday forward. Our hearts overflow with God’s love for us, and that overflow is intended to pour out to the hearts and lives of those around us.

That is the heartbeat of Zion.

I am so thankful to be on a team that is passionate and cohesive. In Cambodia, we sat on our bed to cast vision for South Africa, and there we prayed listened to the Lord. He laid specific pictures and words on our hearts that unified us. A new team with all kinds of backgrounds all of a sudden given one vision and sanctified hearts. He molded our hearts, set them on eternity, and tuned our heartbeats with just one step of obedience.

Our vision now is the title of this blog. It basically means we want to live in the abundance of the Lord, we will lack nothing for God will always be enough when we are in Him, and we will be shaped and moved by the overflow we receive from Him.

I want to live in this overflow, and I wanted to understand it more. God reached out to me. He said to me, “I am going to show you the extent of my love.” We did not know what Africa was going to look like but I was in awe when we arrived to our ministry location. Everything we had been praying into was given to us, but in a way I never expected.

The truth is it is no coincidence with our vision in place before our arrival He is equipping us to be able to live out of the overflow.

We are surrounded with wisdom, hospitality, generosity, love, and care from our hosts. They live out of the overflow and bless us in so many ways. He’s pursued us by also surrounding us in His creation with an abundance of stars and an ocean in our backyard which is constantly overflowing and singing praise to Him. It brought me so much joy to see God care for my team in this way and not leave us out to dry with a vision and without a hand of guidance and help.

J-Bay has us on our toes in ministry in the best way because we’re equipped for that.  We are working all over the Eastern Cape serving as volunteers at a horse farm, preparing Christmas programs and entertainment for farm children that are likely to be caught in the cycles of drug and alcohol abuse, evangelizing and prayer walking around the town, working in soup kitchens, doing construction for a Christian organization called Global that offers Gap Year programs and schooling, doing prison ministry, and volunteering at an Christian organization called Joshua Project that helps children in need of anything. It has been exciting and fruitful already I cannot wait to share more about how He using us and other ministries that we might partner with!

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
-Psalms 23:5

And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. You will be enriched in every way to be generous in every way which through us will produce thanksgiving to God
-2 Corinthians 9:8, 11-12

All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
-2 Corinthians 4:15

Please continue to pray for us as a team to stay focused on Christ, that we remain in Him even when the waves rise, and that the enemy will have no place here. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Let us live out of abundance and overflow of the Lords love and enjoy the reason for the season, the precious birth of our Savior!
