“If finances were not an issue, what would your dream job be? “
An event planner. Weddings. Gender Reveals. Baby Showers. Fundraisers. All the things.
“How can we bless our host?”
A question we, as a team, ask each month.
As we were already planning a culture night to share the American culture and have others share the Myanmar culture we wanted to plan something that would bless our hosts.
Our hosts are expecting a child and they were going to find out the gender of the baby while we were still in Myanmar. Heather, my teammate jokingly said we could throw them a gender reveal party.
Except some of us wanted to make that a reality.
So we began planning. We asked them to invite friends and families. We brainstormed games. We decorated with balloons and colorful paper. We gave them a time and location. The party happened.
After the party was over I asked myself “what is it about planning events that gets me so excited?”
Joy. Being able to see people in fellowship, smiling and celebrating new chapters in life. I get to have a vision and orchestrate it. I get to see an outcome that I worked hard for.
Through this God said “Evangelism”
Something I do not particularly love doing.
Do not think I do not love sharing Jesus because I do. I love telling people about who my Maker is. I love telling people about how easy it is to have a relationship with Him and how much He pursues us. I love sharing to those who I know I will see again. Those who I have a relationship with and eventually can see the outcome.
Evangelism on the street is what is difficult. I have always had the philosophy as long as I love like Jesus they will know. Which is only half true. The ability to blatantly tell people about my Father in Heaven and never see the outcome is what I do not like.
How selfish of me right. God gave me seeds that I must plant. Whether I see the outcome or not God will continue to sow them. Having the strength to share, trusting in God and praying for the people I come in contact with is what will help create a positive outcome. I may not get to see it but it’s not about me.
Who knew a gender reveal party could reveal so much.
