What Would It Look Like If…

We “Embraced The Mess”?

God has given me a vision for things that He wants me to learn then blog about this year. I’ve heard a consistent phrase since joining the World Race. It’s a phrase that evokes the thought of “What If…” in a way I’ve never thought before. “What would it look like if…” It’s a challenge to look at circumstances in a different light. So throughout the next year, I will be posting a few “What would it look like if…” blogs. You will know those are the lessons that I have learned.

It’s always a wonder to me that when you step into God’s will, chaos is soon to follow. I like to see this as a sign of the threat that Satan thinks us believers truly are. I won’t go into all the details. Sorry. It’s just not place to share. But I will spill from a personal standpoint. I have dealt with sickness, insecurities, heartache, death and fear.

I have had a few moments when I have asked God, “Really? REALLY?” There’s more?!?! It wasn’t until worship one evening that a new kind of thinking was birthed. One of my beautiful new sisters challenged us to see God in all circumstances. We are often caught looking at our brokenness thinking, “I can’t wait until I am past this point”. But what if we are missing something? When in the Bible does God ever tell us that we won’t encounter disappointment, struggles, anguish?

This sounds like common sense, or at least I thought so. Take a step back and think for a moment. How do you respond in your crisis? Cry? Complain? Stress? Doubt? If there is one thing I have learned in my walk with Christ, it’s that He is GOOD. And not just some of the time, but in every sense of the word. He is GOOD.
Learning to embrace the mess is the part He wants us to learn. So what if it’s hard, dirty or uncomfortable, He is good. And He has something much greater at work.

So “What would it look like if we embraced the mess?”

What kind of freedom does that give God in our lives? For ME: I’ve found a new level of faith. I’ve found a new joy. I’ve found a new kind of strength.

Isaiah 50:7

“Because the Sovereign Lord helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like stone, determined to do His will. And I know that I will not be put to shame.”
