The rumors are true, I am going on the World Race in January! I will be traveling to 11 countries in 11 months doing various mission work. Yep, you read that correctly. I will be living out of a backpack and spreading the gospel to the broken and forgotten for 11 months.
Some of you may be thinking, “Are you nuts? What about your job? What about your family and friends? What about your community?”
Yes, I probably am nuts. Yes, I will need to leave my job. Yes, I will say goodbye to my family and friends for almost a year. Yes, I will leave the strong community I have in Chicago. Yes, doing these things will be hard, but it will be worth it! God has a plan for me and it is to trust Him and leave the known for the unknown.
God has given me a passion for traveling and helping others. He has also given me an adventurous spirit. I’ve had the opportunity to go on short term international mission and service trips before, and these trips have always left a special mark on my heart. God has been working on my heart and nudging me to step out on faith and leave the corporate world to do missionary work overseas.
This 11 month journey will give me the opportunity to spread the Gospel, to grow in my faith, to help others and to experience new cultures from all around the world. I will be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who are considered to be the least of these. I can’t wait to see how God uses me to help others and how God uses others to teach me about Him.
Will you join me on my adventure?
Prayers, words of encouragement and any financial support are greatly appreciated.
