My team and I have been waking up early every morning to read through the book of Acts and pray on our knees. I’m here to tell you we need more prayer than what can come from ourselves. Yes, our prayers are powerful, but how much more powerful are they when believers all over are united in prayer.
Sunday we went to an international English church. It’s going to be a safe haven for us; a place where we can relax, be encouraged by other believers, worship, and be prayed for.
Today has been my hardest day. I’ll probably say that a lot because I only expect it to get harder.
Today I fell in love.
It’s 9:00 at night and four of us just got back to the apartment from a whole day spent with two amazing girls. Emily, Beth, Austin and myself (know known by the nickname Chocolate Belle) and we feel like we just got hit by a train.
We met a girl a few days ago and planned to have tea with her today. We met up with her at a place with a beautiful view of the water and talked for a little bit… Mainly through Google translate. Then she invited us to her house to talk with her sister who speaks good English. They were very kind and hospitable and even cooked a late lunch for us.
We had long conversations of such depth that there’s no way I could explain it, but I am excited for future conversations and what they might hold. The girls are firm in their beliefs, abundant in knowledge, and want others to believe what they believe. They really believe what they believe in!
After lunch we went out for coffee and spent all afternoon talking to them. They have many similar stories to us, but there are also some differences. Today I tried to seek to understand instead of seeking to be understood. I felt that was significant.
I didn’t know it was possible to love so deep this fast.
Today I fell in love with a girl.
We plan to see them again this week.
Please pray:
For the Holy Spirit to penetrate so deeply into us and into them.
For language barriers to be broken.
For understanding and patience on both ends.
That we realize the weight of this isn’t on us, but that we understand it is a privilege to be a part of what God is doing other’s lives.
That we will be able to clearly convey what it is the Spirit puts on our hearts.
That we would all know the truth and the true God.
That our strength is renewed.
That our love for one another displays God’s love.
