I have to raise how much money? $16,600? That’s right $16,600! At first the idea of fundraising this much money seemed very daunting to me! I felt very uncomfortable asking others to support me in the World Race by donating money to me! I sent out support letters, but I still felt like I wasn’t working hard enough to raise the money. So, I decided to do even more by selling bracelets.

I found this amazing organization,Threads of Hope. Threads of Hope gives you the opportunity to fund raise through selling bracelets that are made by families in the Philippines. Half of all the sales you make while selling the bracelets goes to you and to the families who made the bracelets! I loved the idea of not only raising money for myself but also for the families who made theses bracelets in the Philippines.

Although I had made this step to further my support, I’ve always struggled with the fear of rejection. I was scared that no one would support me or buy my bracelets, but to my great surprise the reaction from people was the exact opposite.

I had over 150 people at my school support my trip by buying bracelets! My heart was warmed by all the support I was receiving from my school! People I have never met or talked to before wanted to know more about my mission and how to get bracelets! I sold my bracelets during class and during lunches! I raised over $1000 dollars in just one week and got to keep about $600!

At first I was terrified of asking for money, and quite frankly, I saw fundraising as a rather daunting task. After receiving all the love and support through selling the bracelets, I learned that you can fund raise in many ways that will help you feel more comfortable about asking for money! Fundraising is no longer daunting to me, but exciting! Every time I see another dollar come my way, I smile knowing that that is one dollar closer to getting me across the world!

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has supported me in my missions by praying, donating, and of course buying bracelets!

Live graciously and of course as my church always says, let love live.
