“And I will build my life upon your love, it is a firm foundation.” This is one of my favorite lyrics from the Housefires’ song Build My Life. During one of our sessions of worship this week two alumni team leaders, Emma and Connaly, sang this song. While they were singing this song, I had my eyes closed and the Lord gave me an incredibly vivid and real vision.

When I kept singing “and I will build my life upon your love, it is a firm foundation” I saw myself on basically an island in the middle of a raging ocean and my island was sturdy, prosperous with beautiful trees, and unshaken by the storm amidst me. As I looked around I saw a lot of other people on not so sturdy islands that were baren and about to be overtaken by the storm. Eventually, the storm did overtake all the other small and feeble Islands around me and the people began to fall into the deep and huge waves. As the people were falling in the ocean I remember hearing the Lord say “Share this love that I have given you, share this firm foundation.” Then, I opened up my island for anyone who was seeking a firm foundation built off of love.

As I opened my eyes after receiving this vision from the Lord I was in awe. Never before in my life has the Lord given me such a vivid vision with so much meaning. As Christians from the States we sometimes only think of our own personal relationships with the Lord and how the Lord is prospering for us as individuals. A lot of the time we only focus on our relationship and forget to invite others from their shaky and barren islands to our island that is beautiful and built upon a firm foundation. Not only is our island a firm foundation, but it is a foundation built off of love!!! We are sometimes too focused on ourselves to notice the ones around us who are struggling and who need to hear of the love that can literally change and save their lives.

How amazing is it that the Lord has made us all evangelists. Yes, that’s right we are all evangelists. If you know the Lord, then you know evangelism. During the race, I’ve learned the difference between believing in the Lord and KNOWING the Lord. It is easy to believe in God, but knowing God takes work and dedication in your relationship with the Lord. I’ve learned to invite the Lord to not only be my God but to also be my Abba (father) and best friend. Knowing the Lord and His heart has made me an evangelist who desires nothing more than to share the love that the Lord has given to me to others. The Lord freely gives His love to us and we are all to freely give this love and hope to all nations.

Basically, this vision that the Lord gave me reminded me to share with all y’all that you are uniquely made by the Father and He has given you a firm foundation, but this foundation is not for you to keep all to yourself, it is a foundation that we must share with all nations and all peoples.
