As we are gearing up to leave (we are headed to Nicaragua on the morning of March 10th)…I thought I would take you on a tour around my ‘home’ for the last month.
Antigua, Guatemala.

Here are a few things that have become normal in my day to day…

There is no such thing as ‘child labor laws’ here in Guatemala 🙂 …The people here (children and adults) work
hard!  This boy was painting a new wall that was put up yesterday. The man who made the wall was in his 70’s and worked for at least 10 hours straight on it.

These gorgeous girls were selling onion and tomatoes in the market…

This is a Taxi in Antigua…These little things are really bumpy on the cobble stone streets.  It’s funny to watch how many people can actually cram into one.  It cost a little over a dollar to get a ride across town. We usually only use them when bringing groceries home from the store/market.

The ‘snack shack’ on wheels…in case you get hungry. 🙂

Fruit in the market… yum!

This is the internet place that I use almost everytime!  The owners (you can kind of see them behind the desk) are great and alot of fun!

Here is some money (US coins and Guatemala Quetzales)…
the largest coin (to the Right) is 1Q.  About 7Q equal a US dollar.

This is our team kitchen….

Home Sweet Home…This is where we sleep.

(left to right…Annie, ME, and Joy’s bed)

To end with…A beautiful sunset in Antigua behind a volcano….

Most of the other teams from A Squad are coming back into town today. We are staying together here in the city and then gearing up to leave Guatemala.  Since i’ve been in the city this last month I’ve come to the conclusion (well I already knew this)…but that I don’t really like the city as much as the rural or country.  I don’t hate the city…but I definately don’t love it for long periods of time. This city has everything (well most things) that I could want at my finger tips…American food, laundry services, ice cream, hair salons, fruit, etc. etc. etc…but I would much rather be out in the rural with barely anything (I loved the rural town we were in while in Mexico (Aguilar). Where life is lived at a slower pace and relationships seem to be deeper. Anywho…those are my thoughts…

Love You All!
