“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, YET I WILL REJOICE IN THE LORD, I WILL BE JOYFUL IN GOD MY SAVIOR!!”        Habakkuk 3: 17-18

We just finished our first week of ministry in the village of Aguilar. Plans changed last minute and we ended up there with Team Hupomone instead of in Santa Maria with Team Salt. Nonetheless, it’s been a challenging yet exciting week.

We were graciously invited into the home of a man from the local church named Alfredo who has pretty much moved out so we could use his entire house. We are so blessed to have bedrooms, a bathroom, shower, and kitchen! Definitely an unexpected surprise.

Our ministry has been a little slower than we had anticipated due to the fact that we haven’t had a translator. Talia and Annie are doing the best they can to interpret for the team, but our communication is pretty limited. We really want to share our hearts with these people and get to know them on a deeper level, but without the use of language we kind of have our backs against a wall. But we’re doing the best with what we have and are relying heavily on the language of love to communicate. We’ve had a great time playing with the kids and letting them show us the all the hot spots around town. Our ministry has consisted mostly of nightly services for the kids at 5 and adults at 6, and also many prayer walks and home visits around the community. Although our communication isn’t exactly ideal, we trust that God is still moving and working and we may never know the impact we are having until we get to heaven.

The people here have been very welcoming and bring us tortillas several times a day…we’ve learned how to eat them with EVERYTHING!! I dont have time right now to detail all the funny/interesting stories of things that have happened, so please check out all my teammates blogs and pictures if you want to have a good laugh.

Our team is really bonding as we continue to get
to know each other and share our hearts. We’re opening up, becoming vulnerable,
and learning how to love each other. Plus, we genuinely like each other! What a
blessing to be able to spend the year with such a great 2nd family.

There has been alot of sickness on our team this week so please pray for that. I am feeling much better this week, but Talia and Eric have been not feeling so great. Also please continue to pray that we won’t get discouraged as we continue to minister through the language barrier. We have 5 days left in this village and we want to make the most of it! Much love to all!
