Hello Everyone!! My name is BriEllyn Widbin, and I am a true Midwest girl born in IL and raised in IA. I am a very optimistic and energetic person with a passion for life. I believe life is not a spectator sport, and if you really want to get the most out of it, than you have to be willing to get in the game and lay it all on the line. I love sports (esp. volleyball and baseball), music, and the beauty of nature. I tend to be a risk taker and love the thrill of stepping into the unknown.
I come from a big family with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. My older sister lives in Nashville TN with my adorable 3 yr old nephew, and my younger sister is married and lives in Pensacola FL. My 2 younger brothers still live at home with my parents in Iowa. My parents are two of the most loving, caring, and giving people I have ever known and I am so proud to call them mine. They are amazing and have been great examples to me of what it means to truly submit your life to God and follow wherever He leads.
I have grown up in the church all my life, and accepted Christ as my Savior when I was 5 years old. God has blessed my family with a strong Christian heritage, which has strongly influenced the person I have become. My dad’s parents were pioneering missionaries to New Guinea for 30 yrs, and their Godly influence and passion for missions and adventure was passed on to my dad, and now to me. So you could say it’s in my blood! Although I have participated in several mission trips in my life, I know that this is going to be so much more challenging than anything I have ever attempted before. I am so excited to see the amazing things God is going to do!!
The last few years of my life have really been “here, there, and everywhere.” I figured out that I have moved 10 times in the last 3 years! After completing 3.5 years of college I decided to move to Orlando, FL and work at Disney World. I was there for a year and I absolutely loved it, but really didn’t feel like that was where God wanted me, so I decided to come back to Iowa and finish school. I graduated in May, and am very glad to finally be closing that chapter in my life.
Through the years my walk with God has definitely had its ups and downs, and moments of strengths and weakness, but no matter what, God has always been faithful to me. After struggling for a while trying to figure out my purpose in life, I have recently taken a new “ownership” of my faith. I’ve realized that it’s not my job to control my life and nothing I could plan for myself could be better than what He has planned for me. I have really committed to letting go of my preconceived ideas of what my life was going to be like, and really being open to whatever God wants to do with my life. Let the adventure begin!!
