Well we made it safely to country #2 here in beautiful Antigua, Guatemala!! The race began EARLY yesterday morning at 4:45 am…we were told we wouldn’t be leaving til noon, but surprise surprise Chad had something else in mind. Task #1 was to take a picture of our team neck deep in the river, and let me tell you that at 5am the river is COLD!! Then we packed up as fast as possible and grabbed a taxi.

We spent 15 hrs. on the road yesterday with 12 people in a 15 passenger van, and arrived here around 8pm. Our final destination was a coffee shop named “Higher Grounds” which is next door to the church we’re staying at for the next few days. Our team ended up getting 3rd place in the race. We arrived just in time to drop off all our stuff and run to the nearest place with a TV to catch the end of the Super Bowl. It’s so weird how disconnected I feel with everything back home. I haven’t watched the news for a month and have no clue what’s going on, but it was good to watch some American Football! After the game we spent some time walking around the town square and even found a cafe with cappuccino and chocolate cake.

This morning at 7am we headed up to Cerra de la Cruz, a beautiful lookout over the city. The sun had just risen and there was a light haze over Antigua with a volcano in the background. Breathtaking. We spent an hour in prayer just covering the city and asking God to prepare the hearts of the people we’re going to meet during our time here.
