I will be the first to admit that I hate flying. From getting food poisoning, to the turbulence, to my general fear of heights, I hate it all. So when I booked my flight to training camp I decided to take a read eye in the Hope’s of falling asleep and forgetting I was on a plane. I forgot about the flight but I was still worried about everything else. I had never flown by myself so I was worried about getting lost, losing my luggage, or that my flight would be delayed and I wouldn’t make it to camp in time.
I somehow made it on the plane and slept through the majority of it. I had two flights. One that took me to Charlotte where I had an hour layover before heading to Atlanta. My first flight I slept most of the time. I woke up about 40 minutes before we landed. Shortly after I started up a conversation with the couple I was sitting next to. I asked them if they were from Charlotte. They explained that they were actually from Washington and that they were planning to move to Charlotte and they were flying there in Hope’s of finding somewhere to live. They asked me if I lived in Charlotte. I explained that I was from Arizona and that I was on my way to Atlanta for a training camp for a mission trip I am going on. They asked which mission trip and I asked if they had ever heard of the world race. They told me how their niece had gone on it a couple of years prior and absolutely loved it. They had also told me how they had spent a year in China doing mission work. How they had given up everything in the U.S. to take a chance and go where God was calling them.
They had remembered that there niece had to raise a lot of money to go on the world race and asked how much I needed to raise. I told them that I had to raise $15,000 and that I still had quite a ways to go. To my surprise they asked me how they could donate. I gave them the link to my blog and said they could donate on there as well as follow along on my journey on there as well.
The Male asked me if he could pray for me before we got off the plane. He prayed that I would get to the $15,000 and that I would have an amazing journey ahead. All of the worries I was having before I got on the plane all went away. I felt such a sense of relief. Here was a couple I had barely met who was willing to donate money. I couldn’t believe it. God puts people into our lives for a reason. You may not see it at first but it will become clear why you had what seemed like a random conversation with them. Ever since signing up for the World Race God has truly shown me the amazing things he can do and I cant wait for this next journey in my life.
