I can’t believe it! In 1 month I will be leaving on an 11 month mission trip all across the USA! I thought it was time I answered all of the questions I have been asked ever since signing up for the world race.so here it goes.
1. What are you packing?
– I have decided to make a blog specifically about packing. It will come out in about two weeks so keep an eye out for that. I did officially decide what I am packing and how I am packing it last week.
2. You are Catholic, why are you going on a non denominational Christian mission trip?
– The short answer is God is calling me to go. God would not have introduced me to the World Race if he did not want me to go. Part of the reason I waited so long to sign up for the World Race is because I was unsure about going on a Christian mission trip but this is something I am meant to do.
3. Why World Race America? Why not an international route?
– The short answer, I feel God is calling me to stay in the US and help those in need here. Another reason is my stomach can barely handle American food let alone international food. In all reality though there are still so many people here in the USA who need help. Maybe not as much as people in India or Africa but Americans still need help. So many people my age refuse to believe in something that they don’t have physical proof exists. I want to help them see that God does exist. That their just not looking hard enough
4. Why an 11 month mission trip?
– Before I applied I considered other mission trips. I considered Catholic short term mission trips. The way air saw it though is if I wanted to truly find myself again I needed to give up the year and spend it with God. Spend it helping those who have a lot less than I do.
5. How are you going to stay away from your family for 11 months?
I will be the first to admit it’s not going to be easy. The longest I have been away from my family is 1-2 months. I really feel like I need to go find who I am without my family by my side. During the year though I will make a stop in Gilbert and I will be able to see my family.
6. Where in the USA are you going?
– The short answer is I am going to over 35 states. If I were to list every place were going to I would be here all day. Some of the places most in need though are New York, Boston, L.A., and Philidelphia. 7. What will you be doing?
– It will vary state by state, but we will be helping in homeless communities, anti trafficking ministries, summer camps, and construction all while spreading the gospel.
