I spend A LOT of time in my car everyday. It’s ridiculous that in Chicago a 20 mile commute can easily take over an hour. As I’m driving I do a lot of thinking, a lot of praying, and anyone that’s been a passenger in my cars knows I do a lot of talking to myself and muttering about other drivers! I leave early enough that I miss most of the mess that happens at Rush Hour. Most mornings I mentally go through my plan for the day, pray for my students, figure out lesson plans for upcoming weeks, etc. Most afternoons I tune out school and have my mind on everything else that is going on in my life, which often includes the World Race. I pray for finances, physical, emotional, and spiritual preparation, my teammates, the countries and ministries we’ll be working with, and all of you! I know I don’t express it enough, but I’m so thankful for all of you that are supporting me in so many ways! Today during my drive home I mentally made a list of the different groups of people that have supported this mission in one way or another. What I have loved about this process is seeing and reconnecting with people from all different walks of my life:
1. My family
2. Many people from the church my family attended since I was 4 years old, Park Lane CRC.
3. Friends that I was in Kindergarten with.
4. Friends that I met in high school.
5. People I met on past mission trips.
6. A variety of people from Taylor University (those I lived in Swallow Robin Hall with, studied in Ireland with, fellow Elementary Education majors, went on mission trips with, Professors, etc.)
7. Teachers and families from Salem Christian School.
8. Random and anonymous people who received my business card from one of the above mentioned people.
Over and over again, I’m amazed of the ways God has provided for this trip!!! I’m so thankful for each of you that are praying, donating, talking with me, etc. This trip would not be possible without all of you!
***You can always see a current financial update on the left side of the blog. I will be sending out a detailed support blog later this week. I’m also working on my March newsletter that will be in the mail or your inbox at the beginning of next week!
When you sponsor a child it not only provides a hot meal, clean water, discipleship, and basic medical care for the child, it also supports their family by inviting them through the gates of the CarePoint to receive training, discipleship and mentorship.
