1. School: The month of December at an Elementary school is very busy with programs, report cards, parties, etc.! We had a teacher luncheon on our last day which gave me the opportunity to get to know the other teachers at my school. My new school is bigger, with me being one of the very few young teachers, and it has been difficult to get to know anyone else beside the 2nd and 3rd grade teachers on my wing! We finished the semester with a luncheon that included a fun, but very intense game of teacher musical chairs! I walked away with at least two bruises!
2. Salem Christmas Program: It was so great to be able to go back to Salem. I’ve seen Amy, Natalia, and Sharon several times, but hadn’t seen many of my students or the parents since last spring and summer! So, it was great to catch up with so many people at once! I really really miss being at Salem!
3. World Race! I’ve had a lot of extra time to work World Race stuff! I kind of feel like I have a second business going with all the letter writing, blog writing, fundraiser research, talking with churches and businesses, etc! One day while I was finishing up Christmas shopping I ran into several people from the church I grew up in. It was so great to hear people excited about the World Race and wondering how they could specifically support this ministry!
4. Christmas: Christmas Day was spent with the McNamara side of the family at my cousins’ house. My Aunt Margaret (my mom’s sister) is visiting from Ireland for a couple weeks. So, we will be doing a Kenny side of the family Christmas party tomorrow.
5. Relaxation! Starting a new school, learning new curriculum, figuring out new policies, meeting new people, and a super long commute everyday, has made this semester extra-tiring! I was so ready for a break and have spent so much time reading, sleeping in, meeting up with friends, Christmas movies, etc. I’ve really enjoyed the alone time during the day and spending time with friends in the evenings! A couple times I went to the bookstore and ended up spending hours sitting in a comfy chair, with a good book, and drinking a cup of chai!
6. Indianapolis! I’m excited to take the bus down to Indy and spend New Years with my old roommates and some other Taylor friends!
