I wrote this blog the Thursday during training camp….
On the World Race we will have many opportunities to reach out to women and children trapped in prostitution. Last night we had a time of prayer for women and children trapped in prostitution, HIV victims, and orphans. God laid on my heart very heavily last night the children that were trapped into sex slavery. While I was praying He kept bringing to my mind the children nobody knows. The children that were born into brothels, that were raised in brothels, and went directly into sex slavery. NOBODY knows them. They don’t have a teacher waiting for them to come to school in the morning. They don’t have friends coming over to play. They don’t know who their extended family is. NOBODY knows them. They’ve been trapped and will continue to be trapped unless WE do something about it!
Tom Davis, who is also an author, came to speak to us last night. His heart and life is dedicated to the orphans of the world and the children in Russia that are most likely going to end up in prostitution. He told us about a brothel that was raided recently in Cambodia. He then showed us a pair of shoes that were discovered during the raid. They were the shoes that belonged to one of the people trapped in the brothel. They were a little pair of flip-flops. They were something that a 3 year old would probably wear. I know they were SMALLER than any shoe my niece wears (and she’s almost 4)….Let’s be honest…We all know this stuff is going on. However, many of us choose to ignore it as we go on with our comfortable lives. Sometimes it takes something as simple and concrete as a little pair of flip-flops to wake us up and wreck our hearts. Will you join me in praying for these children? Pray for freedom, pray that their dignity and purity is restored, pray that God will direct your heart on how to respond. Cry out to God for these children that don’t have people praying for them.
