To show me what it means to love unconditionally…
To show me what a true servant of the Lord is….
To see that the genocide was a tragedy and affected many of the people that I know….
What it means to walk in the joy of the Lord….
What it means to walk in joy even after you’ve lost all the people you love….
To teach me patience….
To have my team laugh A LOT this month….
To realize that Lord is speaking through me as I have learned to preach…
To have allow my team to have an AMAZING Rwandan mom and dad when we’re the most homesick….
To teach me how to worship the Lord African style….
God has been BLESSED my team beyond anything we could imagine for this month. I honestly believe that we have the best ministry contacts that anyone could ask for. They are constantly telling us how much they have prayed for us to come, how blessed they are by us, and how happy they are because we are here. However, I believe that I have learned much much more from them and they have loved us more than I could ever return.
The Lord always knows what we need and the time we need it most. It’s the end of month 5. My team has been feeling more homesick than normal. We’re tired from the constant moving, packing our lives into one backpack every few weeks, saying good-bye to new friends ever month, and never knowing where you’re going to live from month to month. This month He decided to give us a family and a home.. A family with a mom, dad, and three brothers. A family that is hosting their very first team. The very first thing Venancia (our Rwandan mama) told us was that she has been praying for many years for daughters…And now the Lord has given her 6 daughters. From Day 1 she treated us as her own daughters. Pastor Innocent told us that the Lord spoke to Him on our second day about caring for us as our families would.
Please be praying for this family. This is a family that loves the Lord and is not afraid to share that. They know what it means to be servants of the Lord. They have an incredible gift of hospitality. They listen to the Lord. They started a church about 10 years ago called Christian Fellowship. They started and are running a preschool for children in the slums called Successful Christian School. They love and care for their three boys.
Now on to month 6…We’ll be spending February in Kenya.
