It was strange driving through the rainy night to an unknown building called the Lighthouse almost two weeks ago. Now I call the Lighthouse home and it’s normal sharing an open living room, dining space, and kitchen with my 14 housemates.

As the days pass the team has become more and more involved in ministry and gradually developed a tentative schedule. In a typical day I wake up at 6:30am. Eat at 7am. Start team devotion and run through the day’s schedule at 7:30am. Then a ministry block starts. That could be jumping into the van to visit a school and feed/teach/play with the students there or it could be staying at home to clean the house and spend 30min with the daycare attached to the Lighthouse. Lunch is at 12pm. More ministry happens in the evening. After our last scheduled ministry we have the option to spend time with the awesome squad of girls who gathers on our porch in the evenings before we eat dinner and close the day with team time.

I’ve spent many of the last few days at a local school in Palo that has some classes for children with autism. Each time I leave at the end of the school day my friends and I are sent off by all the students with so much friendship.

Today I had the opportunity to go on a field trip with the autistic students and their teachers and parents. Slowly I’m learning how I can best serve these warm-hearted children. The day was filled with splashing through muddy puddles, holding rambunctious hands, and waging splash wars.

I am so thankful for God’s goodness to me in every moment and can’t wait to share more of my experiences with you soon. Please be praying for God’s glory to shine through every action I take here and that He would provide healthy and peace to my team.

Till next time! Happy Valentines Day. <3
