“For I am about to do something new. See I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland” -Isaiah 43:19
“the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not” -Romans 4:16
To be honest, this trip doesn’t really make a ton of sense — I’m not amazing at fundraising, I don’t have a huge network that I would expect to support me, and I don’t have a ton of money lying around or parents that can really pay for this.
But then I’m reminded that God doesn’t see things like we do. In fact, I think He likes to work through people and situations that seem impossible to display His power and glory.
Let’s see here….God chose Moses, a guy who was “slow of speech” to be His mouthpiece and to lead the Israelites out of captivity. He chose Abraham and Sarah to bear the promised child, Issac, when they were way past childbearing age. He chose the cross-the very instrument of defeat and death- to work life and redemption for mankind.
While it’s easy to be overwhelmed by the amount of things I have to do to prepare for the Race, and the money I have to raise, I serve the God of the impossible. The God who powerfully transforms situations–Who makes streams of water flow in the dessert, who parts the seas to allow His people to escape, who raises people from the dead. He is the God who saves, heals, delivers, and restores.
And for all of this what does He ask? Only that we have FAITH, that we TRUST in Him who is able, “through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20).
The odds may appear to be against me, but God has called me and I’m believing Him.
I can’t promise that I will always be perfect, but I can promise that I will be surrendered.
I’m all in.
So ya– truthfully, this whole fundraising thing has been kind of hard for me. I’ve struggled with doubts and insecurities- I wonder whether people will question my motives, or my abilities, or whether people will reject me or be upset that I’m asking for money or being too needy.
But you know what, I don’t have to be afraid because I am confident that God has called me to this mission, and I am confident that He will provide for me because he is the BEST Dad.
So my question is, does He want to do that through you? Please, pray about it. Does He want to bless you by getting the opportunity to be a part of this ministry to preach Jesus Christ to the nations?
Maybe you can’t go- maybe you have a family or commitments. I understand that. Or maybe you just don’t want to, maybe this isn’t a desire or calling that the Lord has placed on your heart. That’s perfectly okay too.
But you know what– I CAN GO, and I am willing!
He is calling me to go, is He asking you to send me?
THIS IS SO POSSIBLE GUYS! $15,500 may be a lot to us, but it is nothing to God.
“Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness” -2 Corinthians 9:10
Love you all so much!!! 🙂
