Ah, what a life the missionary life is!! The last two-ish weeks have given me a true taste of what the missions life could really be like. Here’s a brief overview of the past two weeks in this crazy, hard and cool life:
- living high up in the mountains with the clouds (approx. 10-12,000 ft. in elevation) partnering with Dunamis (organization/safe house for women who have been abused or sex trafficked)
- sleeping on the floor with all 20 of my teammates in one room with one bathroom (an experience I will never forget… like ever haha)
- construction work from 9 a.m-4 p.m. in 30-40 degree weather (yes, your Florida girl was freezing haha)
- wearing the same two outfits for almost two weeks (hand-washing any garments needed)
- worshiping with my team as we looked over/prayed over the city of Quito during time of political unrest (all of the riots and protests have ended and we are safe! Thank you Jesus!!)
- plans continually being changed and unknown day to day (lived that flexible, “go with the flow” life to the EXTREME)
- last minute two day trip to Banos, Ecuador which included swinging at the edge of the world, eating yummy arepas, praying/evangelizing to people we met and having BEDS to sleep in!! (blessings on blessings)
Like I said, this is just a super brief and condensed version of how life has been lately! Some really hard moments and some really incredible moments have been weaved in and out of all of this without question. I can’t wait to share even with you all more when I get back to the states! Everything that I am learning here about being a missionary is what I cannot wait to continue to do in my life when I get back home <3
// After a 28 hour bus ride, we finally made it to Peru last night! Our journey in Ecuador has come to a close, but our time in Peru has just begun. Your prayers for perseverance, supernatural strength, and unity would be so appreciated for our team as we move forward and finish this last half of our trip.
May God’s salvation and power be made known to His people in Peru as we continue to live out this “missionary life” for Him and Him alone!!! //
