I’m obviously going on the World Race because it’s the calling the Lord has put on my heart. And quite honestly, I don’t see myself working in a secular career once I return. As I mentioned in a previous post titled Process of Initiation the World Race is an intensive discipleship program. This 11 month / 11 country mission trip will enable me to pretty much experience every part of ministry, enabling me to find out my strengths and what I really enjoy.

To put it simply, the World Race will help me discover my specific Kingdom calling. I believe with all my heart God has a very specific area of ministry for me and the World Race will help me find it. I’ll tell you this though: I’ll be going where God leads me, wherever it may be. This could be full-time missionary work outside America, nonprofit work in the States, ministry work locally with a church, church planting, or any other part of ministry.

I first learned about the World Race in 2011. I ended up financially supporting a World Racer from church. And I do my research before making any investment. The thing that caught my attention when I was researching the World Race is the process which is used, notably Abandament (Step 1) and Brokenness (Step 2) of the six-step process. I remember thinking Why brokenness? After reading my friend and her teammates blogs over the course of their 11 month Race, it became clear to me the necessity of this step.

You see, I can’t be used by God to the fullest potential until I’m broken and stripped away of all the things (besides my identity in Christ) that have defined me over these years. It’s my conviction the Lord has already started preparing my heart for the World Race by using Step 1 and 2 in my life. And I’ll tell you, it has been very difficult. Luckily, Step 3 (Dependence) is where I’ll start seeing fruit. Perhaps I’m near or in Step 3 at this point. Regardless though, I’m committed to this journey.

I am here to serve the Lord and labor not for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to everlasting life (John 6:27).
