My about me section is short so I wanted to give you a glimpse into my life and how I came to my relationship with Christ at 19 years of age.
I attended a (private) Christian school starting in third grade. I remember sitting in class, fourth grade, and hearing about the love of Jesus and how God sent His son into the world to die on the cross for our sins.
It must have been that summer while at my grandmothers place I actually shared Jesus with her. Like more than once. I think she actually got a little annoyed by it to be honest, but I remember saying to her, “grandma, Jesus loves you and died on the cross for your sins” the response I usually got was “I don’t believe in heaven or hell” but I kept on persisting. Years later she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. I hope (and pray) my persistence payed off and hopefully I planted a seed, even if I was only 9 or 10 years old.
High school was very difficult for me, but I survived. In fact, if it wasn’t for the struggles I faced while in high school, I don’t think I would have ever wondered into Psalms Alive at my local Calvary Chapel. Psalms Alive was a time of intimate worship with the Lord with a reading and teaching of a Psalm. I am forever grateful to the guitarist (Dave) and the Pastor (Larry) for their God-given abilities in worship and teaching.
The year after high school I went on a backpacking trip to the Sierra Nevada’s with my friends (and Pastor) from church. This trip changed my life. I started my relationship with God over that week. I was 19 years old.
My faith has been challenged through many events I’ve endured over the years, but God always stays the same. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
I look forward to having God use me not only while on the World Race, but in whatever area of ministry He leads me to after the Race. It’s crucial I remember it’s not about me…it’s (all) about Him. May God always get all the glory.
