I lost myself to find myself. The process wasn’t pretty but the end result is glorious. I had it all, lost it all only to find it all.

I can’t remember exactly when it occurred but sometime after being promised a partner in the business I experienced an identity shift. One I wholeheartedly regret.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:19-21 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Something I learned from working with – and managing money for – wealthy people is they have problems too, just like all of us. It’s how you deal with your problems and issues in life that really matters. As I recently read, “it’s not the deck of cards you’re dealt that matters but how you play your cards.”

For me personally, I play my cards by turning to God. Make no mistake, turning to God is not a quick fix. Rather it’s a process and it takes time. But it’s the only way to turn to that will truly solve the problem. Everything else is a temporary fix. A band-aid if you will.

So today I rejoice in the fact I now have my true identity back. That is, being a child of God, created in His own image.
