Wow. Sometimes I am at a loss for words when it comes to describing the life I am able to live by the grace of my God. I am beyond thankful to be a senior at Baylor University, graduating in May with a B.A. in Psychology with minors in Religion and Poverty Studies/Social Justice. Throughout my upbringing and throughout college, the experiences of my life alongside the Holy Spirit’s sanctification have shaped me to care for those of our world who are often overlooked. I believe in the everlasting and unexplainable hope and peace that comes from knowing Jesus Christ, and I believe that every individual deserves to know about Him and the unconditional love He freely and lavishly gives. I also believe that every single individual on this earth is created in the image of God and has the capability to be loved and to be given a voice. Being able to listen to the heartfelt passions of others is one of my favorite things to do in this life. So, the World Race is a perfect way for me to communicate this hope, peace, love, and joy that I know so deeply while I also sit and listen to the voices that may have been stifled for far too long.
I heard about the World Race at a summer camp while I was in high school from one of the leaders there who had just returned from her journey. As soon as I returned home from camp, I remember looking up what the World Race was all about, and even though I discovered the minimum age of 21 to go on a trip, I was mesmerized by the thought of one day embarking on an adventure through the World Race. Ever since then, I have grown and changed and learned so much more about myself and my God, but the World Race has stuck in my head through it all. I am so very excited to ask God to prepare my body, my mind, and my soul for this journey ahead of me. I pray that my Lord would be in it all and through it all, and that it would all be for the glory of God alone and for the love of people in this world who might be broken but most certainly have beautiful stories worth hearing and respecting. Our God is faithful to provide, and I simply ask that you might come alongside me- friends, family, and brothers & sisters in Christ- in prayer and in support in whatever way you see fit as we each are able to play a role in the furthering of God’s Kingdom. What beautiful thing that even though our Creator doesn’t need us, God certainly wants us, and because of that, I thank God for you frequently.
