This month in Rwanda has certainly been an interesting one. My team and I have totaled about 40 different sermons/preachings. Yea, that’s just one month…it’s Crazy!
My theme, if I had to say I had a “Theme”, for this month is based off Isaiah 58. *Please Read Verses 1-11 Carefully* I have heard references from this chapter about 6 times this month, whether it was from a fellow teammate or a few podcasts I have listened to. Having listened to several other discussions from fellow teammates about “will you get into Heaven”, has definitely been an interesting topic to think about.
I will say this little bit as a disclaimer. This blog and idea is directed toward the Christians of this World. My tone is urgent and it’s out of concern and love. I use my desire to empower the people of this word by calling out the falseness and lies in our lives to better ourselves as a Believers in Christ.
With Isaiah 58, it’s explained that many people who were fasting and praying to God weren’t going to be heard by Him. Why? God listens to everyone right? Yea, but will He respond? However, it claims how the people who were fasting and praying were doing as they please, there’s quarreling, people striking one another, and so on. I think this chapter is great in realigning oneself to back to God if a Christian.
Here’s another way to put it. You claim to be a Christian, you go to Church, you consider yourself a Good person, you go to bible study with other people, pray, and so on. However, you still continue in Sin, which you KNOWINGLY participate in whatever it is and you do not seek to repent of it. You sit in whatever Sin it is, you Pray to God for who knows what, yet you Do Not Change. AND You Think God will Answer Your Prayers?! Maybe, but that’s all apart of God’s plan that nobody knows.
James 2:17-19 In the same way Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But Someone will say “You have Faith, I have Deeds”. Show me Your Faith without Deeds, and I will show you my Faith by my Deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that–and shudder.
I have a Fear for Many people, even CLOSE Friends, who claim to be a Christian, yet I do not feel that they will reach Heaven. It’s a Narrow Path as many of you have might heard in the past. There’s a Reason for that. Simply, because SO many people go about filling their needs and doing as they please, and they think that just going to Church and being a good “Christian” will get them in.
It’s a little more than that. This can blow up into a huge discussion, and people have a never-ending list of scenarios. Fact of the matter is, Love God with ALL Your Heart, and Love Your Neighbors. I believe that in doing so, if You LOVE God, then you will obey Him by turning from your old ways. This is since you are of a New Creation. Your deepest desires should be of and from God. If you deepest desires aren’t then I pray and hope you find what Thing Of This WORLD is holding you back and turn away from it, because it will bring you down to Hell and not to the Narrow Gate.
