One evening while resting and discussing some random but really good topic with my teammates after dinner, I noticed our contact’s daughter eating.  She had this Huge mound of noodles on her plate.  She was eating them 1 at a time, but not eating them at random I noticed.  She would pick through the mound with her fork until she saw the specific one she wanted to eat.  Then, picked it up and eat the 1 ridiculously long pasta noodle very slowly.

It’s such an easy example, but it clicked in my head how we as “Christians” act toward God and one another.  If some of you already know what I’m talking about, that’s great!  However, we always need to be reminded to examine ourselves.

Have you ever thought “Well, if Go gives me this 1 particular opportunity, then maybe I’ll go do it”, or “I’m still not able to be active with in the church community, because they act a little too weird for me”.  Lame examples, but you get what I’m trying to say.

We (yes me too since I’m not perfect) are sooo self-centered in our lifestyles, and I’m specifically speaking to the “Christians”.  We put God in a box with limits, and when we desire something to happen we go and ask as if He’s a Magic 8-ball.  I can imagine God is unhappy when we Limit Him.  Here’s a reminder..God is God and He does whatever the heck He Wants.  We are on His agenda, not ours.  Our Life is just a vapor, while He is Eternal.

Our selfishness comes out in ways by how we make up Stupid excuses to not do what He simply asks of us.  We have to have Our way, Our agenda, Our wants, and Our own times of wanting God to show up.  If we don’t have Our way, we get angry and frustrated…Like a 2 year old.  Great thing to know is that God has Grace towards us.

Reading the Crazy Love book by Francis Chan has also fueled these thoughts even more.  Th cool thing is that almost all of the main points and topics in his book, I have realized and experienced First Hand while on the World Race.  Don’t believe me?  Do it Yourself!  I took the simple act and desire of focusing less on me and more on God, and being on His agenda while on this crazy trip.  Oh the enjoyment of being on His agenda in other countries, and all you alumni reading this are nodding your heads agreeing and smiling.  Honestly, it’s frustrating but amazing to see Him wok through and around you in the most ridiculous settings.

Main thing is to realize, understand, and incorporate into our lives and thinking is that God is Above ALL.  No matter how self-centered we are in wanting things done Our way, we will all have an end to our lives…it’s going to happen and you can’t escape it.  We will have to stand Face to Face with Him for Judgment at the Gate.  The World Race is ONE of Many ways to go out and live a life that is very focused on doing His Will…while at the same time being changed Yourself.  While the process to turning from us to Him is difficult since we must die to our Flesh, but it is possible and, speaking from personal experience, it’s Amazing.
