So your first thought might be “How’d you manage to get that?” or “Did you steal it from an Embassy?”.  Let me explain the day.

We had the morning off since the children were having their own church service, and we weren’t needed to teach.  So, Stefan, Christina, & I headed out to the Independence Monument in Phnom Penh (the Capital of Cambodia by the way).

It was so nice outside, the pedestrian mall with monuments everywhere, and mansions lining both sides I actually felt as if I was in some European country for a moment.  After the monument and mall we continued towards the river front area.  That area has many restaurants and cafe’s, so that was our main goal to reach by lunch.

We continued walking along and were able to see Many magnificent looking temples, the Royal Palace, and other important looking structures.  Eventually we made it to the river front and amongst the sidewalk were flags of countries all over the World.  It was continuously breezy and that just made the day feel a little cooler and the flags to look more impressive.

After a while we headed along the flags to find a place to eat.  As we were walking we tried to name each country from the flag.  There were a good bit I didn’t even recognize.  We noticed a few people raising and lowering the flags up ahead, and it turned out they were taking down the old ones and putting up new ones.  I got there 10 minutes before they were to take the American Flag down.

So being an Eagle Scout, I was busting in excitement for a chance to raise and lower My Countries Flag.  Let alone in a Country hardly anyone in the U.S. knows about and where almost Everyone in the city who drives on this Main Road couldn’t help but see it.  My mind was doing back-flips afterward when the guy said I could have the older American Flag.

If you are in the military, was in Boy Scouts, or has a high level of respect/is proud to be an American, you might know this is surely a big deal.  When an American Flag is torn, weathered, and not in good condition, it is to be taken down from the pole and replaced.  The military and Boy Scouts are the only 2 organizations in the U.S. who are allowed to properly put American Flags to their rest in a fire.

I’m not really that Big on boasting about the U.S. or am a Huge patriotic person, but I do have a high Respect for our Flag and what it has signified over the past several hundred years.  If I was to see my countries flag being misused and/or abused in another country, I would feel very Strong to Act.  So yea, I now posses an American Flag and not sure what to do with it…and it’s 6’X8′.

At the same time, if I was to see another Christian Brother or Sister to Struggle against Sin, be Persecuted, or had Harm against them due to our Belief in God.  You bet I’m gonna have something immediately to want to say and do.  Yes, I am aware some people will then say, “well being a Christian you aren’t to have any other thing higher or Love for this World other than God”.  However, We are to Protect OUR Land & Home.  Mine’s in AMERICA.
