tear filled eyes sitting in a circle, staring at the floor trying to process, and your heart breaking a little trying to repair itself.
woah. that was deep. let me back up a little bit & explain a little better.
yesterday at lunch, we heard an announcement saying “tonight is movie night, and tonight we’re going to be watching “Free Burma Rangers!!”
I was looking around at everyone else, and we were all confused, besides the leaders. the leaders were clapping and shouting and were so pumped to watch this movie.
I’m going to deny, I love movies with everything I have. I was a little nervous though for this movie and what it was going to bring to the table. usually racers can decide if they want to stay and watch the movie, but they told us that they wanted everyone there sitting together without our electronics.
okay God, what’s on your mind?
so hours pass after lunch, and dinner rolls around. (I had completely forgotten about the movie.) so my team and I head inside to eat dinner, debrief the week, and wait for this movie to start.
about an hour or so passes, and we’re all sitting on the ground waiting and waiting. Lauren (a team leader) stands up and prays over us and the movie before it begins. I was thinking to myself, “oh gosh this is going to be a sad movie.”
so the movie starts, and it’s nothing like I’ve ever seen before. I see shootings of guns, big tanks, and people dead and wounded everywhere. I see helicopters, and people going to rescue others that are hurt.
my heart immediately sank.
———————-
I find out that this is a true story and a documentary actually. it’s about a man from the USA who gets called to go overseas and help people in Burma (which is now Myanmar). he got called to go help save people who had been wounded from the Burma government. the Burma government attacks its own people. the innocent. the children. the elderly.
it was very humbling and an incredible movie.
this movie shared this mans story about he raised a family in Burma, how he started the Free Burma Rangers, and about how this war is still going on today.
there were so many tears during this movie.
it was heartbreaking, eye opening, and absolutely incredible.
you may be asking why I’m creating a whole blog about this movie.
well, I think it’s that important. I think everyone needs to see this movie and realize what’s going on in other places. I think it’s important to note that you don’t have to be someone huge to do amazing things. we can all make a difference, and this movie is living proof of it. I would love for all of you to go give it a watch.
it’s called, “Free Burma Rangers.”
be prepared for your life to change for the better and to cry a lot.
after the movie, we literally sat there in silence crying, not sure what to do or how we could help. how we get so much in life and still take so much for granted.
go watch this y’all, it will change your life.
