hi from isolation!

yes, you read that right.  I’m currently sitting in an isolation room on the window sill in the sun on this fine Saturday morning.  I’ve been in this little room for 2 days now, and have been loving every minute of it.  this morning I watched a video of Sadie Robertson and her teaching on the Holy Spirit (thanks mom;));; what an amazing video.  definitely recommend it!

so I haven’t been feeling the best.  It could be because I’m sleeping out in cold weather, or I’ve been around mold, or just because it’s cold out.  I left campus yesterday to go get tested for covid, strep, and the flu;; I’M NEGATIVE!!  THANKS GOD!  I just have to stay in here until I feel better πŸ™‚

– okay, but now for the actual blog post:)

I’ve now been here for exactly one month.  that doesn’t even seem possible.  time has flown, and has been so so amazing.

many people might be asking, “what have you been learning?”

well, I’ll give you a little list of some of the topics I’ve been learning about:

first off; tenting and camping outside is already a list of things I’ve been learning in itself.  πŸ˜‰

1. what is “the church?” what does “the church” mean?

2. walking in honor

3. hearing the voice of God

4. healthy version of ourselves

5. healthy communication

6. shame vs. guilt

7. forgiveness

8. Holy Spirit and miracles

9. grieving & the Holy Spirit and what it does

10. plans for our life – Holy Spirit

11. discipleship and abandonment

12. staying in the Word

…. and many, many more.

every day that I’m here, I’m learning.  I’m learning from my small community here, I’m learning from the silence and the nature, and I’m learning from being isolated in a small room all by myself.  while being here, you constantly learn.  some days are harder than others, but all days are good, as we’re still moving, and moving closer to God.

sooo on that note, I have some EXCITING NEWS!!

so this Halloween, my squad and i will be heading to FOLEY, ALABAMA for disaster relief from hurricane Laura!!

y’all, did you just read that right?!

I’ll explain a bit better;

so Gap Year has partnered with Samaritans Purse, and so we will be heading to Foley, Alabama for ONE WEEK to help with disaster relief from hurricane Laura.

SEE YALL, STILL MOVING!!

this is such an exciting opportunity, as we are very excited to serve and preach the Good News while helping others get their lives back to normal.

wow, thanks God πŸ™‚

so yes, I am still standing after 31 days.  I’m still learning, changing, developing, and finding my purpose.  I do cry, I do have hard days, and I do miss home.  but this, this is the place where I find my future, who I am, and find who God has made me to be.  this is the place where I found my best friends and mentors.  this is the place; and for that, I am eternally grateful for the race and what it has given me so far.

also;; I miss all of you!!! I do read all of your comments on my blog posts, and so I thank EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU for all of the kind words, and for reading what I write!  if you would like me to dig into a topic deeper or if you have any questions, please don’t feel afraid to reach out in any way!!  I’m always down to talk you any of you and keep you updated πŸ™‚

I love you guys!!  happy October and happy fall!!!  <3 Briana
